Commercial Director

Job vacancy: Commercial Director at Ubiqu

Are you ready to lead a sales team in a dynamic, high-tech environment? If you have a strong background in B2B sales and thrive in the cybersecurity sector, then Ubiqu is looking for you! We’re looking for a Commercial Director to drive our international growth and replicate our success in the Netherlands.

What’s the role?

As our (Interim) Commercial Director, you will play a crucial role in expanding Ubiqu’s presence in the EU market. You’ll be responsible for building and leading a professional sales team, drafting a commercial internationalization strategy, and creating awareness about Ubiqu’s unique position in compliance with the new eIDAS regulations. You will report directly to the CEO and work closely with the current commercial team.

Background

As a high-tech cybersecurity company Ubiqu has developed its own in-house authentication solution, which is used by KPN and the Dutch government.

The EU operates under a standardised security framework called EIDAS, which is applicable to all member states. It requires all governments to launch/update online access portals for its citizens to access government services. As a consequence, a considerable number of tenders are expected in the coming years. Ubiqu has already passed the required certifications to operate under this framework and has demonstrated its ability to operate at scale in The Netherlands. Moreover, Ubiqu’s solution is technically superior (better security and ease of use) to current offerings in other EU countries. Ubiqu’s strategy is to partner with the incumbent Telco’s/MNO operating in the identity space or qualified trust service providers (called QTSP’s) in other EU member states to offer the best solution for each country.

Each EU country has multiple MNO/Telco’s and QTSP’s, so the list of current potential customers is known. Ubiqu has a strong reputation within its authentication niche that can be used to approach the relevant stakeholders within these MNO/Telco’s and QTSP’s (typically large corporates). In addition, the expectation is that within the new eIDAS environment more and more companies will have to become a QTSP and will be looking for a certified authentication security partner, like Ubiqu.

Key responsibilities:

  • Leading the sales & marketing team and expanding it to 6 FTE over time.
  • Drafting a commercial internationalization strategy, including high-over market analysis to prioritize EU countries (e.g. based on timing of government tender, competitive landscape, partnering opportunities) and entry strategy per country.
  • Create awareness of the new rules about eIDAS and Ubiqu’s excellent position to help QTSP’s comply to eIDAS.
  • Building a European network of partners and ambassadors at both the government security departments as well as QTSP’s.
  • Attend key security conferences and site-visits to security partners across the EU with your team.
  • Build a structured sales approach with clear roles, sales materials and pipeline management.

Key requirements:

  • 12+ years of working experience.
  • Experience in tenders and enterprise B2B SaaS sales.
  • Cybersecurity experience (ideally in authentication) is a plus, but not a hard requirement.
  • Strong ability to create a structured sales approach in an entrepreneurial tech environment.
